Aaron Franz is the Regional Managing Director of Vriens & Partners’ head office in Singapore, where he manages the firm’s regional clients and oversees in-country consultant teams and projects across the region. With over a decade of experience in government affairs and political risk in Asia, Aaron leads Vriens & Partners’ work developing regional government affairs strategies that can be adapted to local political dynamics and drive meaningful results in-country. Working closely with clients, he has designed and executed major campaigns in the financial services, health, oil & gas, mining, and technology sectors.
Aaron also leads Vriens & Partners’ regional association management practice, currently serving as Executive Director of the Southeast Asian Toy Association, a multi-stakeholder coalition of leading toy industry players in Southeast Asia. Aaron has additionally served as Executive Director of the Europe-ASEAN Business Alliance, a member-driven alliance of leading European multinational companies with significant interests in the ASEAN region.
Aaron has lived in Asia for 15 years, including nine years with Vriens & Partners. Prior to joining Vriens & Partners, Aaron reported financial news from Shanghai, wrote political risk reports for a private security firm, and led cycling and hiking tours in the mountains of China.
He holds a master’s degree in international studies from the National University of Singapore, where he focused on politics and state-society relations in Southeast Asia. He also studied Mandarin for two years at Fo Guang University in Taiwan and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Aaron lives with his wife and daughter in Singapore.
