Maxwell Abbott is an Associate with Vriens & Partners in Jakarta. In this role, he has developed government affairs strategies, regulatory framework assessments, and political analysis to assist clients in overcoming policy challenges and align with government agendas. Maxwell has supported clients in energy, manufacturing, financial technology, healthcare and various other industries in Indonesia.
He previously worked as a Legal Research and Data Analysis Consultant for the Open Society Foundations in Jakarta, conducting legal and policy research and advising capacity building programs for Indonesian non-profits and government agencies in the legal sector.
As a Project Officer for BABSEACLE, a non-profit in Chiang Mai, Thailand, he participated in development projects with law schools in Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. Maxwell also worked as a Communications and Advocacy Associate with Global Health Strategies in New York.
Maxwell has delivered presentations on access to justice and human rights in Indonesia and published articles on anti-corruption, criminal law reform and other topics. Maxwell is an attorney admitted to the New York State Bar. He received a Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the George Washington University.
