Reinout van Lennep, a Dutch national based in Zurich, is an independent advisor to ultra high net worth families (UHNW) around the world and specializes in finance, wealth management and family governance. Before becoming independent in January 2012, he was a Managing Director at ABN AMRO Bank in charge of its Global International Private Banking business from 1995 to 2004, followed by 7 years as Senior Banker to key UHNW families in Western and Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Mr van Lennep obtained his masters degree in Law at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands and studied Russian in the Dutch Military Intelligence. Subsequently, he has been dedicated to the field of banking and finance. Initially as a certified credit analyst at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York, he advanced to Vice President at JP Morgan in Amsterdam and London (in structured finance). After joining ABN AMRO Bank in 1989, he progressed to become deputy CEO in Hong Kong and then CEO in Taiwan, UK and Switzerland, and was a member of various boards in that group.
In the past decade, he has focused increasingly on family governance and next generation issues and has been a frequent speaker on such matters. Mr van Lennep currently serves on a number of corporate and family foundation boards in Europe and Asia and advises families in not only those regions, but also in Argentina and the US.
