Samuel Pursch

Samuel Pursch is a Director in Vriens & Partners’ Hanoi office where he advises clients across sectors. He leads the Vietnam office’s public-facing activities, providing regular briefings on Vietnam’s policy and commercial context. He is a Board Member of AmCham Hanoi.

Samuel supports Vriens & Partners largest tech, energy, and industrial clients in Vietnam, advising on political and policy change and enabling them to stay ahead of fast-moving reforms.

Samuel also helps lead Vriens & Partners energy projects across the region, building on a six year track record of supporting large-scale energy projects in Vietnam. Since 2019, Samuel has worked closely on building out Vietnam’s energy ambitions and transition. This has included a focus on renewable energy, e.g. supporting offshore wind investors to maintain pressure in a slowly-developing sector, advocating on behalf of renewable developers to expand Vietnam’s ambitions, and helping global investment companies build portfolios of renewable projects. On more traditional sources of energy, he has advised US LNG supply and infrastructure providers and worked with gas power project developers to shape their understanding of the Vietnam market.

Prior to joining Vriens’ & Partners in 2018, Samuel was co-founder and director of Andaman Research & Advisory, a socio-economic research and political risk advisory firm based in Yangon, Myanmar. While in Myanmar, Samuel managed economic and social impact assessments for clients including international hydropower investors.

Samuel holds a master’s degree in War Studies: Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London, and a BA in International Politics from The George Washington University.
