Dr. Hartigan- Go was the former Undersecretary of Health, Office for Health Regulations from 2015 to 2016. Before his appointment as Undersecretary he was acting director general of the Food and Drug Administration. He has more than 20 years’ experience as a clinician, professor, policymaker, and manager of health programs. Dr. Hartigan-Go has extensive experience as facilitator of public-private partnerships: from arranging drug donations for indigent clinics to bringing together the pharmaceutical industry, business leaders, and government for round-table discussions on rational health policy. He was the founding Executive Director of the Zuellig Foundation from 2001 – 2009 and has forged extensive links with the Philippine business and health governance communities throughout his career. He has also provided expert advice and consulting to international development organizations such as the World Health Organization, USAID, and the European Community on health programs in the Philippines.
He trained as an internist and medical toxicologist at the Philippine General Hospital and has received various training and clinical research fellowships abroad. He obtained his postgraduate doctorate degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom in 1998.
