Ye Myint is a Senior Associate with the Yangon Office. He previously worked for the Ministry of Information, where from 2003 to 2016 he served as Journalist, then Chief Reporter and Editor for Myanmar’s largest English-language news outlet. In his time with the paper, he worked closely with Myanmar’s civilian and military administrations, covering stories on the country’s opening up after 2011, its economic diversification and development, the country’s first democratic elections in 2015, and the peace process. He similarly engaged with the paper’s management during its transition from fully state-owned to a for-profit public-private partnership.
He earned his M.A in International Relations from University of Yangon, and his B.A (Honors) in International Relations from Dagon University; he has also received a Diploma in English from the Yangon University of Foreign Languages. From 2014 to 2015, Ye Myint participated in a prestigious fellowship program for journalists to study in Washington D.C. He also attended journalism courses from internationally-recognized institutions such as the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in New Delhi in 2010 and the Kyodo News Agency in Tokyo, Japan in 2012.
