Frederick Jon Chen is an Associate Director and Regional FMCG Practice Lead at Vriens & Partners’ head office in Singapore. He leads the firm’s FMCG practice across Southeast Asia, advising multinational companies and developing and executing government affairs strategies on issues spanning sustainability, packaging circularity, product regulation and market access.
Frederick also leads the Secretariat of the Southeast Asia Recycling Coalition, an industry platform bringing together leading global companies to advance practical approaches to packaging circularity and Extended Producer Responsibility.
Before joining Vriens & Partners, Frederick worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Warwick’s Centre for Studies in Democratization, where he supported Associate Professor Renske Doorenspleet’s research on democracy and political theory.
He holds an MSc with Distinction in Democracy and Comparative Politics from University College London and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Warwick.
Frederick is an experienced public speaker and has presented at TEDx and PechaKucha, where his talk was selected as a Global Presentation of the Day.
