Megan Ooi is an Associate at Vriens & Partners’ Malaysia practice. Since joining the firm in 2019, she has worked closely with clients and internal teams to deliver public policy advisory, government relations, and strategic consulting engagements.
Megan’s work spans the energy, technology, healthcare, FMCG, and construction sectors. She has supported a global hyperscale data center company in operationalizing multi-billion-dollar investments in Malaysia, advising on emerging policies, regulatory compliance, state- and federal-level coordination, and alignment with global renewable energy targets. In the international development space, Megan also supported a foreign development agency in identifying collaborative government-to-government collaboration in renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, education, and digital transformation.
Megan also brings operational experience from her time at a multinational manufacturing company, where she gained first-hand exposure to large-scale organizational operations and growth. She also has a background in human rights advocacy, having worked with one of Malaysia’s leading NGOs to support policy reform through structured engagements with parliamentarians and key stakeholders.
Megan holds a Bachelor’s degree in and International Administration from the University of Nottingham, as well as a double Master’s degree in International Security from the University of Warwick and in Conflict Management and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz. She regularly represents Vriens & Partners at industry events, where she shares insights on Malaysia’s political and regulatory landscape and its implications for business. Megan is fluent in English, Malay, Mandarin, Hokkien, and Cantonese, and is proficient in French and German.
