Nik Rashid is a Senior Analyst at Vriens and Partners’ Malaysia office. In this role, he supports the team and the clients by providing background research and analytical work underpinning the various government relations support for the firm’s clients.
Previously, Rashid served as a researcher at Research for Social Advancement (REFSA) and as Special Officer to the Deputy Defence Minister of Malaysia. In both of those roles, his primary duties involved providing research work and technical advice on military and national security affairs to the Deputy Defence Minister and Members of Parliament, covering the areas such as the budget formulation process, participating in the Defence White Paper drafting process, and liaising with civilian and military offices.
He completed his Masters of International Affairs at the George Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M, in 2018, where he specialized in Chinese military modernization, political economy in developing countries, and international development. As a student, Rashid was the Finance Director of the International Council of Malaysian Scholars and Associates (ICMS), managing the organization’s budget in five different countries. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, physical exercise, and computer gaming.
