Nik Mohamed Rashid is an Associate at Vriens & Partners’ Malaysia practice. Rashid serves as a key knowledge resource within the team on cross-cutting issues including fiscal planning and programming, public procurement, and legislative and policy-making processes.
Nik currently leads client work in the healthcare and energy sectors, and has prior experience supporting clients in the technology, sustainability, automotive, and higher education spaces. In healthcare, he led the development of policy papers with clients to advance innovative treatment access within Malaysia’s public healthcare system. In the energy sector, he led analyses on the practical and policy implications of state-level elections on a client’s investment plans.
Prior to joining Vriens & Partners, Nik was a researcher at Research for Social Advancement (REFSA) and served as Special Officer to Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Defense. In these roles, he provided research support and technical advice on defense and national security matters, including contributions to budget formulation processes, participation in the drafting of Malaysia’s Defense White Paper, and coordination with civilian and military stakeholders as well as Members of Parliament.
Nik holds a Master of International Affairs from the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, where he specialized in Chinese military modernization, political economy in developing countries, and international development.
